Fate determinants for neuronal diversity in the adult telencephalon

Principal Investigators:

The specification of the proper neuronal lineage in the adult brain is not well understood. However, this knowledge is central for the proper neuronal repair in the regenerative medicine. Therefore, within this project, we aim at the identification of the molecular cascades important for the specification of the neuronal subtypes in the adult mammalian brain using the unbiased genome-wide profiling of the prospectively isolated, subtype specific progenitors. This knowledge will be further utilized to activate the appropriate cascades in order to induce the generation of specific neuronal subtypes after different types of acute injuries resulting in the neuronal loss.
