EMBO Workshop "Mechanisms of neuronal remodelling"(Seeon, Germany)

This EMBO Workshop will focus on the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying neuronal remodelling across different animal models and their relation to the proper function of the nervous system.

05.06.2016 – 09.06.2016

EMBO Workshop is co-funded by the DFG-funded Munich Cluster for Systems Neurology (SyNergy), the TUM Institute for Advanced Studies, the Collaborative Research Center 870, and the Center for Integrated Protein Science Munich (CIPSM).

In this workshop, we will focus on important unresolved questions on the mechanisms of neuronal remodelling. These will include:

  • What are the cell biological and signaling mechanisms that control remodelling? Are the same pathways activated in different paradigms and across species?
  • What are the roles of synaptic remodelling in circuit formation, learning and memory?
  • What is the role of non-neuronal cells during remodelling, e.g. during engulfment of neurite fragments?
  • What are the mechanisms of disease- and injury-related neurite dismantling and do they recapitulate developmental remodelling programs?
  • What are the mechanisms of axon regrowth during developmental remodelling and how do they relate to axon regeneration and tissue remodelling following injury?
