Imaging neuromodulation with fluorescent biosensors improved by large scale functional screening
We have been able to build up a powerful evolution pipeline for the optimization of biosensors based on diversification and large scale functional screening. Using this approach we could dramatically increase the signal strength of FRET-based genetically encoded calcium indicators. We now want to put this expertise to use to optimize reporters of messenger molecules such as cAMP, cGMP, or sensors that report activation of downstream kinases or CREB family transcription factors. The resulting sensors will be put to use with members of the collaborative research center.
